The Bayelsa State wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the state government to pay all their outstanding salaries or face the consequences.
This was made known to newsmen at the end of the State Executive Council meeting of the union at the teachers house in Yenagoa the state capital.
The chairman of the NUT in the state  Kalama Tonpre who read an eight point communique after the meeting said teachers in the state have been suffering following the non-payment of their salaries for six months running.
The teachers threatened that if the government fails to meet their various request, they would down tools and stay away from the conduct of examinations of National Common Entrance and Basic School Certificate Examinations.
