The Federal Government has concluded plans to disburse $1.5 million to each of the 36 states of the federation to revitalise the nations’ primary health care systems through universal health coverage.

The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole revealed this at the presentation of the health sector roadmap to the WHO Regional Director, in a bid to garner financial and technical support for the utilisation and implementation of the agenda.

Meanwhile experts in the health sector have renewed calls for  a unified health system to promote and sustain maternal and child health in the country.

According to them Nigeria's score card on the implementation of the millennium development goals, which is currently below expectation must emphasise more in the areas to reduce child mortality and  improve maternal health care.
