The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun investigation into the cancellation of some results and consequent rescheduling of Southern Ijaw Local Government gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State.

The Chairman of   (INEC),Prof Yakubu Mohammad on Wednesday directed the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Baritoh Kpagih, and other officials of the commission in the electoral crises to submit their reports within 24 hours on what led to the inconclusive status of the December 5 Governorship poll in the state.

According to findings by our correspondent, INEC will be investigating various allegations of gratification and cases of compromise in the part of the electoral officers

It will be recalled that the youth wing of the All Progressives Party trooped to INEC office in Bayelsa on Wednesday to protest the cancellation of Southern Ijaw results by the commission.
