Estoril midfielder Anderson Esiti has thanked Coach Stephen Keshi for handing him his international debut against Chad, in an African Cup of Nations qualifier last weekend in Kaduna.

As part of his plans to rebuild the national team after failing to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations, manager Stephen Keshi was quick to spot Esiti's potential and was so confident of his abilities so much so that he named the youngster in his starting XI against Chad.

"First of all, big thanks to God and everybody that supported me to get to this stage," Anderson Esiti told thenff.com.

"It's a good feeling that I was able to play the way I played in the game.

"I am very happy to have the opportunity to play and thank the coach and thank my fellow players."

The former Leixões man does not think his appearance against Chad is a one – off affair and reckons that he would be considered for future games in the qualifying series.

"There are so many players in the team. I am very happy to make my debut and I'm here to stay.

"It was always in my dreams to play for Nigeria. We trained two weeksbefore the game, it was a nice feeling. I saw the determination and commitment of the players," Esiti added.

The 21-year-old suited up 26 times for Estoril in all competitions last season, including 5 games under his belt in the Europa League.
