Chelsea 2-0 Borussia Dortmund: Blues Book Spot In CL Quarter Finals

Chelsea on Tuesday went through to quarter finals of the champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 and (2-1) on aggregate.

It was an impressive performance from Blues stars, especially Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz who scored one goal each to help their team cancel the first-leg deficit.

In their last encounter, three weeks ago in Germany, Dortmund won 1-0, as 2021 champions Chelsea, wasted their chance in the first half, with Germany’s Havertz hitting the post.

But in the 43rd minute, Ben Chilwell crossed into the box and found England teammate Sterling.

Sterling air-kicked his first effort, then sidestepped Marco Reus and sent his second high into the net to put the teams level on aggregate.

It was a different thing entirely in the second half as Chilwell cross went into the outstretched hand of defender Marius Wolf and Dutch referee Danny Makkelie gave the penalty after being called to the VAR screen.

The loss for Dortmund was their first defeat after winning their previous 10 matches. While for the Blues the win is a boost as they have struggled for form under Graham Potter since the turn of the year.
