Tottenham Hotspurs coach Jose Mourinho says that he has not spoken with Mauricio Pochettino after replacing him at Tottenham, but said the Argentine is welcome back at Spurs at any time.
Mourinho succeeded Pochettino last week and began his Spurs tenure with a 3-2 win at West Ham.
The former Manchester United coach said they can reach Champions League knockouts with a game to spare if they beat Olympiacos in his first home match on Tuesday night.
In place of the talk about reaching Pochettino or not, Mourinho said he has sent wishes through the squad and Pochettino’s son, Maurizio, who is a player in Spurs’ academy.
Mourinho said, “I needed that little bit of space to process things when I left previous clubs,”
“It does not just five or six days to be open again.
“You speak with people, and in a couple of weeks he will be fine and I will call him.
“I spoke with his son, who is a player in our youth categories, and I think through his boy he can understand my feelings too.
“And of course I will call him but I want to let him process.
“I also told the players in contact with him to make him feel completely free to come here any time he wants.
“I just want him to feel that this house belongs to him.”
