Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier says he believes Jose Mourinho is the ‘perfect’ replacement for Mauricio Pochettino.

This development occurred after the newly appointed Tottenham coach resumed work at the club, and triumphed in his first test as Tottenham beat West Ham 3-2 on Saturday at the London Staduim.

Interestingly, the victory against the die-hard West Ham team was their first away win in the Premier League since January. The situation reflects the struggles the north London side had during Pochettino’s final months at the helm.

So far, the former Chelsea and Manchester United coach’s relationship with the team,  has impressed Dier, and he thinks, Mourinho’s record speaks for him and Tottenham made the right decision to bring him to the club.

Speaking to Goal, Dier said, “I think he’s the perfect person to have followed on from Pochettino – that’s the feeling I have,”

“We’re really happy that if someone was to replace Pochettino, it was him.

“His record is unbelievable and he transmits that confidence. The way he speaks, you believe it, you feel it from him. I think for everyone, we’re very lucky to have played under Pochettino and now Mourinho. We couldn’t be luckier.”
