World football governing body, FIFA has appointed a temporary committee to take over the affairs of Egyptian football after crisis emanating from the sudden departure of the national federation’s leadership.

Hani Abou Rida, the president of the Egyptian Football Association, resigned last month immediately after the hosts’ shock elimination from the African Cup of Nations, taking the rest of the board with him and “sacking” his technical staff.

FIFA said Tuesday that it had appointed a normalisation committee to run the daily affairs of the EFA and to organise and conduct elections of a new board, with the committee having end of July next year to complete its work.
