Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has arrived Manchester United for medicals.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted Harry Maguire could make his debut against Chelsea after his £80 million transfer.
After a lengthy transfer saga, Man Utd finally agreed a fee on Friday that would ensure the England centre-back overtakes Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk as the most expensive defender in football history.
The 26-year-old was pictured arriving for his medical at Man Utd’s Carrington training complex on Saturday morning ahead of undergoing a medical as he edges closer to completing his move to Old Trafford.
Despite speculation over his future, Maguire has played consistently throughout pre-season for Leicester with suggestions that he could slot straight into the United side for their Premier League opener against Chelsea on August 12.
After watching his United side beat AC Milan 5-4 on penalties in Cardiff, Solskjaer confirmed the deal for Maguire was close – and suggested he could be in line for his debut against the Blues
“Hopefully the last little details will be in place and hopefully we can announce something soon,” he said.
“Let’s get the last details over the line but yeah, he’s played a few games over the summer so we’ll have to assess him if and when.
United rounded off their pre-season with a 2-2 draw with the Rossonieri at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff after goals from Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard.
Summer signing Daniel James scored the decisive penalty in his home city to win the shootout as United finish second in the International Champions Cup standings.
