Cristiano Ronaldo has been hit with a 20,000 euro fine by UEFA after his celebration during Juventus’ second leg win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.

Ronaldo was fined the same sum imposed on Atletico coach Diego Simeone for the same gesture during the round of 16 first-leg game in Spain.

He celebrated at the final whistle by mimicking Simeone’s gesture.

Ronaldo was adjudged to have broken articles 11.2b and 11.2d and was charged for improper conduct.

The celebration came after Ronaldo had netted his hat-trick and sealed an unlikely comeback to send the Italian club into the quarter-finals, where they will face Ajax.
