FC Midtjylland of Denmark forward Paul Onuachu has been called up to the squad of the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the dead rubber AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against Seychelles later in the month.
24 year old Onuachu will push for a spot in attack for the games against Seychelles and subsequent friendly game against Egypt in Asaba following his fine run of form in front of goal in Denmark.
Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr confirmed he has been monitoring the forward for the past one year but didn’t call him up earlier after he went missing apparently due to injury towards the end of last season.
This season he has picked up from where he left off with 14 league goals to his name from 20 games while in all competitions he boast of a total of 17 goals from 28 games this season.
Shanghai Shenhua new signing Odion Ighalo could be excused for one of the games with Rohr keen on trying other players in attack as back up for the first choice striker of the Super Eagles.
