Star player Paul Pogba has apologised to his teammates after he was issued a red card in their disappointing Champions League match against PSG on Tuesday.
But Paul Pogba thumped his locker repeatedly before saying sorry to team-mates after his Champions League red card.
.They came in the moments after a crushing 2-0 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain that all but ended their Euro dreams.
Superstar Pogba was sent off in the 89th minute for a second yellow and will now miss the March 6 return in Paris.
But Solskjaer was more concerned with how his team had lost their composure as his run of ten wins and a draw ended. And he let rip at his players on Tuesday night.
A United source said: “Ole told them that they tried to play the game as if it was a one-legged tie. He had told them to remain patient and not to concede easy goals.
“And they then went and conceded from a relatively easy set-piece and everything just went downhill from there.”
United now have a mountain to climb, particularly without Pogba who is banned for the second leg, and the World Cup winner was furious with himself.
The source said: “Pogba was distraught and he apologised to all of his team-mates.
“He felt as if he had let them down and he is now gutted to be missing the second leg. He banged his locker in anger several times.”
