Leon Balogun has scored the second quickest goal by a substitute in the English Premier League this season.
The defender was on target – his first in the English elite division – in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 3-1 triumph over Crystal Palace on Tuesday.
Balogun made an instant impact by finding the net with his first touch 25 seconds after his introduction following the expulsion of Shane Duffy.
And that effort earned the Nigeria international a slice of Premier League record, only second to Daniel Sturridge’s goal versus West Ham United – a feat achieved after 24 seconds.
Elsewhere, Manchester City’s nervous finish in an otherwise comfortable 2-1 win at Watford showed “you can never relax in the Premier League”, according to manager Pep Guardiola.
