Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has set a new goals record in the Chinese Super League after scoring for Changchun Yatai on Saturday.

The Nigerian who is presently the highest scorer with six goals in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers was on target for Changchun Yatai in the 88th minute against Chongqing Dangdai Lifan.

Ighlo scored Changchun’s consolation goal in their 2-1 loss to set the record.

He had once hit the 20-goal mark while in the colours of Watford in the Premier League in the 2014/2015 season.

MEANWHILE, Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, scored his second Chinese Super League goal of the season on Sunday in Tianjin TEDA’s 3-2 loss at home to Shanghai Shenhua, who were without the recuperating Obafemi Martins.

The goal ended Mikel’s 12-game goal drought in the CSL for Tianjin TEDA.

Mikel last scored a goal for Tianjin TEDA on April 14 in his side’s 2-1 win over Guangzhou R&F in a CSL game.
