Hosts, Russia got their Twenty Eighteen World Cup campaign to a flying start with a five-nil drubbing in the tournament opener at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

A brace from Denis Cherychev, a goal each for Yuri Gazinski, Artem Dzyuba and Aleksandr Golovin who also made two assists gave Russia the much-needed win infont of President Vladimir Putin and FIFA President, Gainni Infantino.

Egypt takes on Uruguay tomorrow in the other Group A fixture, while in Group B, Morocco takes on Iran and Portugal battles Spain in a clash of favourites.
