The Chairman, Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick has said that the football body will investigate and sanction those that caused the country FIFA sanction.
He said this while reacting to the award of three points and three goals to Algeria against Nigeria in their last world cup qualifier played in Constantine.
The match ended 1-1 but FIFA converted to a walkover for Algeria because Nigeria fielded an ineligible player, Shehu Abdullahi.
Before the match, Fifa sent an email to the NFF technical officer in charge, that Abdullahi had been suspended, having received two yellow cards during the qualifiers.
In a twist of fate, that officer was in hospital, with a severe heart condition, battling for his life, according to NFF.
Somebody was supposed to relieve him but nothing was done to abate the situation. After the match, FIFA sent another mail, notifying NFF of the consequence of fielding an ineligible player.
As it stands, Nigeria still qualifies for the Russian 2018 world cup with 13 points instead of 14 but the consequence is that the country now garnered three goals deficit while Algeria garnered three goals plus and two more points to rise to four points
