1.ITTF lists Nigeria’s Quadri among four nominees for international star awards
Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri has been shortlisted alongside three other nominees by the International Table Tennis Federation for the 2016 Star Awards, which will hold in Doha, Qatar on December 8, 2016.
Quadri, a former winner of the award, will be aiming for a record feat as the first player to win the award for the second time.
The 2016 ITTF Star Awards, in its fourth edition, will be held at the Doha’s prestigious Sheraton Hotel to celebrate the world’s best table tennis players’ achievements in 2016.

2.Boxing: Anthony Joshua to defend IBF title against Molina
Britain’s Anthony Joshua will defend his International Boxing Federation world heavyweight title against Eric Molina of the United States in Manchester on December 10, it was announced Tuesday.
There had been hopes that the unbeaten Joshua, 26, might face Wladimir Klitschko after the former heavyweight champion’s re-match with Tyson Fury, was postponed.
But contractual wrangles and a minor injury suffered by the Ukrainian scuppered the hopes of that bout taking place this year.
WHILE Britain's Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko have been cleared to contest the vacant WBA heavyweight title.
WBA president Gilberto Mendoza revealed the fight would be for the belt vacated by Tyson Fury in October.
A deal for a December fight between Joshua and former champion Klitschko fell through, with promoter Eddie Hearn blaming confusion over whether the WBA title would be on the line.
3. Algeria name solid squad for Nigeria
Algeria has called up 18 players for the Fifa 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium on November 12.
Headlining the squad made up of 17 foreign based players is Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and his fellow team-mate Islam Slimani.
Nabil Bentaleb of Schalke 04 in Germany is also included while centre back Hicham Belkaroui makes a return to the team.
West Ham’s Sofiane Feghouli, Yacine Brahimi, Ryad Boudebouz and Mehdi Abeid are among the midfielders called up for the game.
Adam Ounas, the much-coveted youngster has finally switched allegiance from France to Algeria and has been handed his maiden call-up.
Antalyaspor Rais M’Bolhi is the only goalkeeper called up for the game.
Nigeria top Group B of the Africa zone of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers with three points after defeating Zambia 2-1 in Ndola last month. Algeria shared the spoils with Cameroon 1-1 in her first group game and are joint second with the Indomitable Lions.
4. Ikeme will be fit for clash with Algeria, says Wolves’ coach
Wanderers Football Club Coach, Rob Thomas, has assured that Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, will be ready for Nigeria’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria on November 12.
Ikeme was substituted midway into Wolves’ Championship tie with Blackburn Rovers prompting fears that he may be out for a long time.
But Thomas has assured that the 29-year-old goalkeeper, who has established himself as Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper following Vincent Enyeama’s decision to retire from the team, would be ready for the game against Algeria.
While confirming that Ikeme won’t be between the sticks for Wolves in the Derby game against Derby County, Thomas, however, revealed that his injury will only require few days before he is passed fit.
5. Eaglesnets Academy defeat Super Falcons 4-2 in friendly
Nigeria’s senior women team were defeated 4-2 by FC Eaglenets in a friendly match played on the practice pitch, National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday.
Goals from Chioma Wogu and substitute Francisca Ordega failed to overpower the Abuja-based male side who came from the behind to record victory in the six-goal thriller.
It was Florence Omagbemi’s ladies first tune-up match since they resumed their final training camp on October 9 ahead of this month's African Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
6. Arsenal, Atletico, Bayern make Champions League last 16
Last season’s runners-up Atletico Madrid were one of four teams to clinch a place in the last 16 of the Champions League with two group matches to spare on Tuesday.
Atletico beat Russian side Rostov 2-1 in Spain as they sealed their progress from Group D along with five-time European champions Bayern Munich, who were 2-1 winners at PSV Eindhoven.
Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain both clinched qualification from the knockout stage from Group A.
Arsenal came from two goals down to win 3-2 away to Ludogorets in Bulgaria to go through along with PSG, who were 2-1 winners over Basel in Switzerland.

8.World Cup top-scorer Klose retires at 38
Germany’s prolific Miroslav Klose, the all-time World Cup top-scorer, announced his retirement on Tuesday at the age of 38.
Germany’s leading scorer with 71 goals in 137 internationals was without a club after his Lazio contract expired last season and he will now join the national side’s coaching team.
Klose hit a record 16th goal in World Cup finals during the 7-1 semi-final thrashing of hosts Brazil two years ago, which saw him overtake former Brazil star Ronaldo.
Klose now plans to join Germany’s coaching staff after an invitation from head coach Joachim Loew.
According to a German FA (DFB) statement, Klose will complete an individual training programme with the goal of embarking on a coaching career.
He will be on the Germany bench alongside Loew for the 2018 World Cup qualifier away to San Marino on November 11 and the friendly four days later against Italy in Milan.
9. Mourinho faces touchline ban
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho faces a touchline ban after being charged with misconduct for the second time in less than a week by the Football Association on Tuesday.
The outspoken Portuguese's latest brush with authority came after he was sent to the stands during Saturday's frustrating goalless draw home to Burnley.
Mourinho could now be hit with a ban if the FA charge of using abusive or insulting words towards a match official is upheld.
He has until 1800 GMT on Friday to respond to the charge.
