The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos Council has secured the  release of three journalists arrested by the men of Nigeria Police during a protest tagged, “RevolutionNow”.

The protest, organised by the Publisher of online medium, Sahara Reporter, Mr. Omoyele Sowore took place in some states where police also made some arrests.

The Operatives of the Department of State Service had since arrested Sowore.

In a statement release by the Chairman of NUJ, Lagos Council, Dr. Qasim Akinreti, the union had secured the release of three journalists, including the correspondent of the Sahara reporter.

He said, ” I humbly wish to inform you that the Lagos State Council has secured the release of the three Journalists arrested by the police in Lagos over the coverage of “Revolution Now” protests.

The union used the opportunity to counsel the three Journalists who are not members of the union , especially Sahara Reporters media Correspondent to speak truth to his boss Sowore to stop denigrating the NUJ and join the family.

Efforts are on too to engage the remain media organizations to join the union.
