No fewer than 100 cult members stormed the Eku Police Station in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday to free some of their members from the police cell.
It was gathered that the cultists entered the community at about 9:30pm on Sunday shooting repeatedly to the air to scare residents away.
Some of their members were arrested by the police but on Sunday they were set free by the rampaging cultists.
The policemen on duty had to flee when they realised that they could not stop the hoodlums who had blocked every entrance to the community before hey began the operation.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the attack saying there was no suspect in the police custody when the hoodlums struck.
