The senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Senator Isah Misau, has been arraigned before the high court of the Federal Capital Territory on charges of injurious falsehood against the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris.
His counsel, Mr. Godwin Obla moved an oral application for his bail citing section 393 subsection 1 of the penal code.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Hadj Sales, objected, saying that such application must be in writing.
In his ruling, Justice Ishaq Bello said although Obla applied for bail in self-recognisance, being a serving senator, the court was inclined to grant the application with a bail bond of N5 million and two sureties in like sum.
Senator Misau pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court has fixed November 28 and 29 for trial for commencement of trial.
