The police have foiled plans by the arrested suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans to escape from prison.
He is currently standing trial along with five others before an Ikeja High Court for alleged conspiracy and kidnapping
They are being remanded at the kirikiri maximum security prisons, apapa.
Following his attempt to escape, reports say police intercepted how he was luring one of the guards with about $50, 000 to $100, 000 to facilitate his escape
The Nigerian Prison Service has now formed a heavy security ring around the kidnapping kngpin.
Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission says it has no power to discipline the Inspector-General of Police.
A statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Media, Press and Public Relations Officer of the commission says even though the body would not compromise its constitutional mandate to appoint, promote and discipline officers of the Nigeria Police Force its powers to do this does not cover the office of the Inspector General of Police.
On postings of command commissioners of police, the commission naturally allows the IGP who works with these officers and who knows their operational capabilities to recommend to it.
