    Fire Fighting Vehicle

The Federal Executive Council has approved N4.6 billion for the purchase of new fire-fighting equipment to contain fire incidents in the country.

According to the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazau there was an appropriation of about N5.2 billion for the purchase in the 2016 budget but the figure dropped after a no objection approval by the Bureau of Public Enterprises.

He said an inspection of the fire stations showed a dearth of fire-fighting equipment all over the country.

A situation, the government felt, should no longer hold.

Meanwhile Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, yesterday wheeled out about 4009 megawatts of generated electricity to 11 distribution companies,  indicating that the country’s power supply is gradually stabilising.

Daily power statistics from Nigerian Electricity System Operator, a section of the transmission company of Nigeria, shows that power generation gradually improved during the last Christmas season with a peak generation of 4288.3 megawatts from the national grid, with a record of 3,366 megawatts as its lowest within the same period.
