A Human Rights Activist and lead counsel to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria , Femi Falana (SAN), is demanding the immediate prosecution of soldiers and officers who were involved in the killing of 347 members of the movement in Zaria between December 12 and 13 2015.
The latest demand comes after the commission of inquiry set up by the Kaduna State Government to investigate the clash between the army and shiites submitted its re¬port to Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
Mr. Falana has frowned at the continuous detention of the leader of the movement, Sheik Ibraheem Zakzaky without trial.
However the Arewa Hope Foundation has faulted what it described as attempt by Falana to belittle the composition and work of the Kaduna State Commission of inquiry, probing the army, shiite clash.
The group said Mr. Falana was only trying to pre-empt the final report of the committee which may have indicted the shiite group.
President of the group, Muhammadu Ibrahim wondered why Mr.Falana would be calling for the prosecution of soldiers involved in the clash when the report of the panel is yet to be released adding that no one seems to be talking about justice for families of slained and injured personnel of the Nigerian Army.
