President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the invitation of King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, ruler of Saudi Arabia and custodian of the two holy mosques.
The President was invited by the Saudi monarch to visit the country with the aim of performing the Umrah.
According to the personal assistant to the president, Bashir Ahmad, who disseminated the information on Wednesday via his verified Twitter handle @BashirAhmaad, he tweeted,
“The President will embark on the journey May 16th, and will be accompanied by close personal aides,”
In a statement from the presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, he said, the president is expected back in the country on Tuesday, 21st May.
Umrah is an optional but recommended pilgrimage to Makkah that can be made at any time of the year.
