The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has impeached Honourable Tonye Emmanuel Isenah as the Speaker of the sixth Assembly.

Tonye Isenah represents Kolokuma Opukuma constituency One in the Bayelsa state House of Assembly.

Raising the impeachment motion under matter of urgent public importance, the lawmaker representing Sagbama Constituency Two, Honourable Bernard Kenebai accused the former speaker of mismanagement and dereliction of duties.

The Deputy Speaker, Honourable Abraham Ngobere who presided over the plenary session later put the motion to a voice vote where all the eighteen members in the hallowed chamber echoed with a YEA response, and then the deputy speaker pronounced Tonye Isenah impeached as the speaker of the sixth Assembly.

The House haven impeached the former Speaker went ahead to elect Honourable Monday Edwin Obolo Bubuo representing Southern Ijaw Constituency Two as the new speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly following a nomination by Honourable Oforji Oboku the lawmaker representing Yenagoa Constituency One which was seconded by Honourable Naomi Ogoli of Ogbia Constituency Three.

Earlier , there was a pandemonium at the Assembly Complex as hoodlums invaded the premises and carted away the Assembly Mace regarded as the symbol of authority of the house, resulting in a shoot out between the security personnel and the thugs believed to be acting on order of the former speaker.

Meanwhile, the embattled impeached speaker of the House of Assembly, Right Honourable Tonye Emmanuel Isenah has said he still remains the authentic speaker.

Isenah added that he has equally adjourned the House for recession and that anything done in the house thereafter is illegal and would not hold grounds constitutionally.

He also debunked rumour that he is breaching a prearranged agreement between him and some executives of the ruling party, PDP warranting him to resign.

He said that there is no agreement to that effect and should not be regarded by the public.
