Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorochas has said that the senate presidency or the deputy senate presidency must be zoned to the southeast to balance the political arrangement in the present administration.

He said this shortly after he had visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Aso Villa, FCT, Abuja on Monday, adding that he is not happy with the plan of the All Progressives Congress on the issue.

Recalled that Okorocha had been suspended by the APC, the governor is of the opinion that the southeastern part of the country has the right to occupy any of the two seats in the name of democracy.

He said that APC would not remain what it is today after 2023 as he called on the party to do the right thing now.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has refused to present certificate of return to Okorocha who allegedly won the senatorial election in his state.

INEC said that the results of the election in the senatorial district was announced under duress.

It appears, APC had  settled for Ahmad Lawal and Femi Gbajabiamila as the senate president and Speaker, House of Representatives respectively.
