There is high hope that the current senate leader, Ahmad Lawal and Majority leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila may be elected the President of the Senate and the Speaker, House of Representatives for the ninth assembly.

Sources told our correspondent that the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress is working hard on this and will not want to fall into the trouble that made it to lose the key positions to disloyal members in 2015.

According to the source, serious meetings are going on now and from all indications, the two lawmakers may emerge if the party is able to reach consensus.

The party is trying to spread the position between the north and the south instead of concentrating it at a region.

Recalled that the president of the senate, Bukola Saraki and the speaker of the house, Yakubu Dogara came from the north because APC failed to hold firm the control of the party then.

The two had since defected to the Peoples Democratic Party. Only Dogara will be returning to the house but the APC is bent on sticking with its rules by ensuring that only loyal party members get to the leadership position.
