April 18: Hoodlums steal Mace from the senate chamber
The Senate plenary was on this day disrupted after suspected thugs invaded the chamber and made away with the mace. The incident happened few seconds after a suspended senator, Ovie Omo-Agege, entered the chamber.

On April 24: Senator Dino Melaye jumped out of police van
On this day, Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West attempted to escape custody and jumped out of a moving police vehicle conveying him to court in Kogi state.

May 31: Buhari signs the “NotTooYoungTooRun” Bill Into Law
President Muhammadu Buhari signed the ‘Not Too Young to Run’ bill into law. The bill generated all kinds of support from civil society organisation and youths in Nigeria became a boost on the saying that Nigeria youths are the leaders of tomorrow.

June 28: Otedola Bridge Fire Incident
Scores of persons lost their lives while over 54 vehicles got burnt when a fuel tanker exploded on the bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. It was a major disaster that threw Lagos into mourning.

July 24: Residence of Saraki, Ekweremadu under police siege:
The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris ordered policemen to lay siege on the residences of the President of the Senate Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu. Saraki had earlier been invited by the police over the Offa Bank Robbery.

July 24: 14 Senators, 37 Lawmakers dump APC for PDP
On this day, 14 senators and 37 federal lawmakers decamped from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party. Some of the senators that defected from the ruling party were allies of Saraki. Before the formal defection, lawmakers like Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, and Isah Misau, senator representing Bauchi central, had been constantly criticising the way the government of the day conducted its business.

August 7: Armed DSS Blocked National Assembly
On this day, armed operatives of the Department of State Service blocked the entrance of the National Assembly. This happened a few hours that President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki announced his defection from APC to PDP.
August 8: Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo Sacked DSS DG, Lawal Musa Daura
Osinbajo who was acting president at the time sacked Daura over the siege. The action was applauded by international community.

September 3: General Idris Alkali’s disappeared in Plateau state
Alkali, who recently retired as a chief of administration (army), was declared missing on September 3, after he was last said to have been travelling from Abuja to Bauchi.

October 3: Nnamdi Kanu reappeared in Israel
Having disappeared after a military invasion in his father’s compound, the leaders of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu reappeared in Israel in October. A video of the IPOB leader was seen on social media where he was observing a prayer session.

November 23: Port Harcourt Building Collapse
No fewer than five persons died when a seven-storey building under construction collapsed at Woji GRA phase Two Port Harcourt, Rivers state with hundreds of people trapped.

November 24: Killing of hundreds of Soldiers by Boko Haram
Hundreds of soldiers were killed by Boko Haram in an attack at Metele area of Borno state threw the social media agog.

On December 19: President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2019 appropriation bill; Amidst drama, President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2019 appropriation bill of N8.83 trillion to a joint session of the national assembly. The presentation witnessed uproar as APC and PDP lawmakers made the session rowdy.
