The Peoples’ Democratic Party in Abia state today held a protest match round some major streets in Umuahia the state capital following news of alleged brutality of the Nigerian police on the Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose.

The state chairman of the party, Johnson Onuigbo who Led the party faithful on the peaceful demonstration, said the act was unacceptable to the party.

He said the alleged ill treatment meted out on a sitting governor is undemocratic and barbaric.

He prayed the authorities to ensure that the Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti state is made free and fair, devoid of undue interference by agents of the Federal government.

The party leadership later moved to the police headquarters in Umuahia to submit an official protest letter to the commissioner of police.
