Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has denied the report credited to him that Nigeria would collapse if President Muhammadu Buhari is reelected.
He said this at Azerbaijan where he was chairing the conference of former Heads of States.
He said, “I did not say that and I can never say such statement.”
Obasanjo explained that Nigeria could not collapse but would grow stronger.
He said that since the country survived civil war and the tyrannical rule of the late Gen. Sani Abacha, nothing would make it to collapse.
An online publication had reported Obasanjo of saying that Nigeria would collapse if Buhari wins in 2019. But the former president refuted it on Sunday.
