Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has condemned the killings in Numan and Demsa areas of Adamawa state following farmers and Fulani militia clashes, adding that it was avoidable.
Prof. Osinbajo said this in Numan Tuesday where he commiserated with the people of the area and called for the need for peaceful coexistence among settlers of the areas irrespective of tribal or religious background.
Osinbajo stated that there is no reason why these clashes should be when as human beings issues can be resolved through dialogue
The vice president who appealed on the leaders of the warring communities to call their people to order stated that what Nigerians should be concerned about is a unity of purpose that will play in delivering the country from backwardness.
The vice president called on all to sheath their swords and embrace peace.
Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla had earlier told the vice president that Adamawa was known for peaceful coexistence until this clashes
The ruler of Bachama kingdom Homun Honest Stephen in whose domain the crisis happened described the uprising as unfortunate and told the vice president that Numan is known for peace but for trouble created by strangers who have vowed to disrupt the peace being enjoyed
