A coalition of youths yesterday staged a peaceful protest in Abuja demanding the return to the country or resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
A similar protest was held last week in lagos.
But the presidency has described the call by protesters as an irrational assault on the nation’s constitution.
The Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said even though the demonstration was the exercise of their freedom under the constitution, which guarantees their right to peaceful protest.
The demand for the president’s return, or resignation or certain explanations was misplaced because the president complied fully with the constitution by handing over power to the Vice-President before proceeding on his vacation.
