    APC with PDP

The All Progressives Congress National Vice-Chairman (North-east), Mustapha Salihu, said the Supreme Court judgment resolving the leadership tussle in the PDP, was not a threat to the APC.

The party chieftain said irrespective  of who the leader is, the PDP, as a platform, had lost credibility.

Meanwhile, the sacked National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has said that he is still in shock over the judgment of the Supreme Court which removed him from office on Wednesday.

His reaction was sent by his erstwhile deputy, Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh and the former spokesperson for his faction, Bernard Mikko.

Part of the three-paragraph statement read “we received with shock the July 12 judgement of the Supreme Court on the leadership of the Peoples  Democratic Party.

But to  Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, the Supreme Court judgment has stopped attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress to silence the opposition in Nigeria's democracy.

Governor Wike was addressing a crowd of PDP members and supporters at the Port Harcourt International Airport on arrival from the Supreme Court in Abuja

He said no democracy can survive without a virile opposition.

In Lagos, the factional chairman, loyal to sacked Senator Ali-Modu Sherrif , Segun Adewale insists he remains the authentic chairman in the state despite the apex court ruling.

Also the leadership of the PDP says the protracted crisis in the last 18 months was a price it had to pay for the survival of democracy and party politics in Nigeria.

The Makarfi leadership, which is yet to return to Wadata House, is continuing consultations with major stakeholders of the party.
