The senate has resolved to suspend all issues relating to confirmation of nominees from the executive until issues resulting to confirmation as contained in the constitution is adhered to.

This follows the rejection of a letter from the Acting President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, seeking the confirmation of Lanre Gbajambiamila as Director General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.

The senate also accused Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello of using state’s resources to orchestrate the planned recall of Senator Dino Melaye.

Raising a point of order during Tuesday’s plenary, Senator Melaye said fake names including those of dead people were included in the recall list submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Ruling on the matter, the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said the senate is no longer disposed to wasting any legislative time on the issue as it was no longer necessary.

The House of Representatives resumed Tuesday after a two-week-break as it called on the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babtunde Fashola to appear before relevant house committees to make a case concerning the amount allocated to his ministry in the 2017 budget.

The legislators were livid at the minister's comments on the pages on one of the national dailies.
