The Federal Character Commission (FCC) is  demanding an explanation from the Department of State Services (DSS) over the recent appointments into the organisation which has been described as lopsided.

Its Chairman, Dr. Shettima Abba, said the commission has given the DSS a three-month ultimatum to explain the alleged  lopsidedness or face sanctions.

There has been an outcry in the country over the recent recruitment into the DSS of 51 persons from Katsina State alone whereas all the states in the South-south got  42 candidates combined.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee against corruption, Professor Itse Sagay (SAN); and two Civil Society Organisations – the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders and the Social-Economic Accountability Rights Project – have faulted Senator Bukola Saraki for criticising the government’s anti-corruption fight, describing it as “inappropriate”.

The groups pointed out that President of the Senate is part of the Federal Government.

The Chairman of CACOL, Debo Adeniran said it was not surprising that he  chose to attack the anti-corruption agencies since he was involved in several allegations of corruption.
