The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee’s report has indicted three former ministers over the $470 million Lagos and Abuja CCTV contract.
The ministers are Adamu Waziri, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (retd) and Jelili Adesiyan as well as a former Permanent Secretary of the defunct Ministry of Police Affairs, James Obeigbu.
The committee alleged they they mismanaged funds meant for the installation of the cameras. If government accepts the committee’s recommendation, the ex-political appointees would face trial.
Meanwhile, the senate has directed its committee on procurement to carry out comprehensive investigation into alleged irregularities in award of some contracts by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
This resolution was reached after a motion moved by Senator Dino Melaye on grounds of lack of due process on award of some roads and bridge projects construction.
Lawmakers that spoke on the motion were of the opinion that efforts should be made not to truncate the execution of the project while carrying out the investigation.
