Oodua Peoples Congress has condemned what it termed discriminatory arrests by the police following the ethnic clash between Hausa
Abuja - The ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has denied claims of a mass defection of governors to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The denial follows weekend statements by the newly-formed APC claiming 23 governors, including 12 from the ruling party, were now member of the recently formed opposition.
Olisa Metuh, PDP spokesperson, took a swipe at the reports.
“APC is not an alternative to the PDP. APC is a party of extremists, religious bigots and tribal jingoists. It is a party doomed to fail,” he said.
Reports of infighting in the ruling party ahead of the 2015 general election have fuelled reports of defections.
However, Metuh said the ruling party was resolving the problems afflicting it.
