A fire truck and some firemen are on stand by as the threat of fire (PMS) hangs over the MRS filling station and it's environs.
A senior citizen, who begged for anonymity, said he saw the fumes in the air first thing in the morning and alerted the police officers on duty which eventually led to the appropriate authorities been called to stand by in case of an emergency as the staff of the fuel station tried to clear their underground storage containing fuel.
The staff at said time had begun transferring the fuel to another storage unit underground and fuel tankers. The issue was triggered by rain which flooded the storage unit and seeped into the road leading to panic.
Residents of Ahmadu Bello way in Victoria Island, Lagos woke up to the strong smell of fuel fumes right outside their windows. This neighborhood consists of the Police Barracks, the Naval Dockyard, its quarters and the Julius Berger quarters are the residential areas right next to the filling station.
