A man named Stephen has been remanded by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday in Kirikiri Correctional Service for allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter.

The case file of Stephen was sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice, because the Chief Magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka,  did not take the plea of Stephen

Stephen 37, who resides at Alakuko, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a count of rape. Nwaka adjourned the case until February 13, for a mention.

It was revealed earlier, that the Prosecutor, inspector Christopher John, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 24, 2019, at his residence.

According to John, it was alleged that Stephen forcefully raped his daughter without her consent.

The prosecutor said, “The case was reported to the police and the defendant was arrested,”

Considering the magnitude of Stephen’s offence from the perspective of the criminal law, John said the offence contravened Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
