The United Nations children’s fund has donated 1000 doses of drugs to the Federal Capital Territory Primary Health Care Development Board for the treatment of Cerebrospinal Meningitis currently ravaging some parts of the country.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed explained that the drugs had been distributed to all general hospitals and teaching hospital in the territory.
According to him, the World Health Organisation also donated three stereotyping machines to carry out screening for CSM in the FCT.
The Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria has advised residents of Rivers State not to panic over the recent outbreak of Meningitis in the country.
A public health consultant and member of the association representing Rivers State Dr. Uche Ukachi told our correspondent Monica Ogwa that both the Federal Government and state government are doing their best to ensure that the outbreak is checked.
