    Striking doctors

The National Association of Resident Doctors in Federal Teaching Hospitals have commenced an indefinite strike over the non payment 10 months salaries of some of its members.

The President of the association, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile Ife, Dr. Wole Ayegbusi confirmed this.

He stated that the doctors had started indefinite strike to drive home their demands.

Acording to him, doctors in the state hospitals had not been paid about 10 months salary despite that they render essential services to the public.

“We need to realise that, we cannot be comparing doctors to other civil servants because if they(civil servants) fall sick and doctors are not well paid, they will never be well attended to.

“You will be surprised that today, some federal teaching hospitals have not paid December salaries, which is unfair because it affects our productivity.
