The mother of fast rising Nigerian Afro Pop artist, Damini Ogulu well known as Burna, Boy delivered a remarkable speech after her son won the coveted ‘Best International Act’ award at the BET on Monday.
During the BET Award, she came to the podium after her son was called to come and collect his award for the Best International Act. The woman who is so passionate about music and her son, came out and thrilled the audience with words having African identity.
The 2019 edition of the award which was created to celebrate black people in film, music and arts, was held at the Microsoft Theatre in California
Identifying and honouring the outstanding achievements of international artists every year, is what The BET Award for Best International Act seeks to achieve.
At the moment, Wizkid still holds the record for most wins in this category with two awards.
Burna Boy joins Wizkid, 2baba, Davido, D’banj and Iceprince as winners of the award from Nigeria.
Nominations for 2019, are: Burna Boy Mr Eazi (Nigeria), Giggs (UK), Dosseh (France), Dave (UK), AKA (South Africa) and Aya Nakamura (France).
The ‘’Dangote’’ crooner began the musical year with hefty, fan-favourite tunes including ‘On The Low’’ and ‘Killin Dem’ featuring Zlatan.
All these achievement within a short period, has resulted in his quick rise to stardom in 2018 which made him one of the top five stars of the year. Recently, Burna Boy stormed Coachella in April, with an electrifying performance.
