Chocolate City boss, Audu Maikori has sued Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai for gross violation of his human rights.
In a suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/385/17) filed by his lawyers, Ballason’s Chambers at the Federal High Court, Abuja. Maikori is seeking damages to the tune of N10billion.
According to details of the suit, which came up for hearing before the trial judge, Hon. Justice John Tsoho on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, Maikori is praying the court to enforce his fundamental rights against undue harassment and intimidation by the Kaduna State government, the State Governor and the Nigeria Police.
It can be recalled that the police had Audu Maikori first arrested in Lagos and detained for 24 hours in Abuja on allegations of posting “inciting” materials on the Internet but was also transported to Kaduna after the arrest in the capital city.
Mr. Maikori’s ordeal came exactly a week after Governor Nasir El-Rufai pledged to ensure his thorough prosecution for allegedly circulating inflammatory materials capable of exacerbating the deadly conflict in Southern Kaduna.
“What he posted may have led to killings and we are trying to link the dates of the posting to attacks that may have happened the next day on Fulanis and if we are able to establish that causation, as lawyers, we know what it means,” Mr. El-Rufai said in Lagos March 4. “It is totally irresponsible to do that.”
