Members of staff of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta under the auspices of Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational & Association Institutions and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics have declared an indefinite strike in an attempt to gain concessions over their welfare package from the management of the school.
The workers are aggrieved over non payment of their outstanding salaries, non remittance of contributory pension as well as cooperative dues amongst others.
MAPOLY in recent time, had experienced several workers’ agitations over welfare-related matters. This time, the school authority needs to be proactive to avoid another prolong criss; if the school must remain peaceful.
The executives led other members to protest peacefully outside the institution’s premises, to express their displeasure and to announce the commencement of an indefinite strike.
They carried placards with different inscriptions to press home their demands against the out going Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led government; while they shut the main gate leading to the school premises disrupting inward and outward movements of human and vehicular.
The students who are not unfamiliar with the trend, appealed to concerned parties to reach a compromise in their interest.
Efforts to get the reaction of the management did not yield result, as phone calls put through to the school’s spokesperson, were not answered.
