Miss Monica Osagie, the student of Obafemi Awolowo University who alleged that one Professor Richard Akindele proposed to have sex with her has finally spoken, hours after the suspension of the alleged lecturer by the university management.

Osagie who spoke throuh her proxy Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, Founder, Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre, said that she released the audio tape because the university management failed to help her predicament when she made the complaint long ago.

Osagie stated that she made an official complaint to the appropriate authorities about the professor’s demand for sex to upgrade her marks from 33 but nothing was done.

She said that after much trauma, she contacted the Women Advocate Centre and was advised to released the audio tape so that the institution management could take step about it.

She denied receiving any invitation by the probe panel, as she challenged the management to show evidence of her invitation to appear before the probe committee.

“Before the matter went viral, the university was aware of it and they did not do anything. If the case did not go viral, the university probably would have not done anything and it would have been swept under the carpet,” she said.

Akiyode-Afolabi said Monica hasn’t done anything wrong and is unapologetic about what she did.

“I think society should focus on what really happened, and whether such should happen in higher institutions of learning and not about what she did.”
