The Academic Staff Union of Universities has refused to attend a meeting with the Federal Government scheduled for yesterday.
ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, confirmed the union will not attend the meeting.
According to him, ASUU has met, discussed the new offer from the FG and submitted a proposal to the government.
He said, the union will only honour another meeting after receiving a reply to its proposal from the government.
In another development, the Coalition of Students leaders from the Bayelsa East Senatorial district, have retracted their earlier position to initiate a recall of their senator Ben Murray-Bruce.
The National President of all Nembe students worldwide and Chairman of Bayelsa East Senatorial district students forum, Samuel Rinah-Tari said the decision to retract their earlier statement follows a two day meeting held between a delegation of the senator and the students leadership, where the achievements of the lawmaker were made known to the leaders.
In Adamawa State, the Islamic youth movement of Nigeria and the youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, have reached an agreement to embrace and preach tolerance for national unity.
They took the stand at an interactive session held to foster peace between the two religions.
