The Trade Union Congress (TUC), and United Labour Congress (ULC) on Monday clashed in Ibadan over TUC’s demand for the removal of the Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Mr Usman Gur Mohammed.
The Trade Union Congress (TUC), Oyo State chapter acting on the directive of the national body had mobilised to the Ibadan Challenge office of the Transmission Company of Nigeria with a view to picketing it.
They however met combat ready Staff of the Company who belong to ULC.
While addressing journalists, Oyo State Trade Union Congress Chairman, Emmanuel Ogundiran, described the management of Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN under the leadership of Gur Mohammed as tyranical and called for his removal.
He also asked the Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Mr Usman Gur Mohammed to withdraw all circulars on Labour matters and give account of about 735 containers cleared from the ports.
Correspondent Tade Oludayo reports that the TCN office would have turned into a battle ground but for the timely intervention of the Oyo state police command who mediated and curtailed the aggression.
