The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the Federal Government to immediately release the names of high-ranking public officials from whom public funds were recovered, the exact amount and the circumstances under which funds were recovered.
The judgment was delivered by Hon. Justice Hadiza Shagari following a freedom of information suit brought by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project.
Joined as defendants in the suit are, the Minister of Information Lai Muhammed and the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has agreed to abide by the ruling of the court by publishing the names of looters.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami told state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting that the government completely agrees with the judgement of the court.
