The senate has called on the Nigerian Customs Service to suspend further action on its policy, banning importation of vehicles through land borders.
The resolution was reached at Wednesday's plenary through a motion by Senator Jibrin Barau who noted that the decision has led to the loss of over 500, 000 jobs.
Meanwhile, President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, Bukola Saraki has directed the clerk to the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani- Omolori to carry out a holistic audit of staff in the national assembly within 90 days.
According to the president of the senate, the measure is aimed at “verifying the skills, efficiency and motivation of the employees of the national assembly.
Also the senate yesterday confirmed the nomination of Ayine Anthony Mkpe as the Auditor-General of the Federation.
He secured the confirmation despite petitions against his nomination.
On the December 14, 2016, the senate considered the request of President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Mkpe as Auditor-General of the Federation.
